Son of Wesley and Helen (Holzapple) Michener. He attended grade school in Gresham and high school in Osceola. Norman married Betty Jean Jones on October 31, 1949, at Swede Home Lutheran Church, near Stromsburg. The couple lived in that area until moving to Columbus in 1957. Norman worked for Roberts Dairy and then delivered milk for Gillette Dairy. In 1972 he went to work for Soil Movers until retirement. Norman was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Eagles Club. He enjoyed woodworking, crafts, gardening, listening to polka music and dancing, until his health became poor.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Michener, of Columbus; daughter, Bonnie Willets, of Columbus; daughter, Sheryl (Larry) Smith, of Columbus; daughter, Twyla (Donald, Jr.) Lewis, of Columbus; son, Murray Michener, of Omaha; daughter, Sandra (Pat) Arasmith, of Columbus; son, Terry (Aimee) Michener, of Columbus; son, Chris Michener, of Omaha; brother, David (Helen) Michener, of Walla Walla, Wash.; brother, Ray Michener, of Denver, Colo.; sister, Grace Schutt, of Phoenix, Ariz.; sister-in-law, Norma (Art) Jordan, of Columbus; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wesley Michener; mother, Helen Michener; son-in-law, Chuck Willets; sister, Geneva Dethloff; brother, Lester Michener; and brother, Robert Michener.
