Evelyn L. Brodd, 92, died Tuesday (2/6/07) at the Ashland Care Center in Ashland. She was born June 28, 1914, at rural Memphis, Neb., to Frank and Jennie (Wilgus) Semenec. Graduate of Wahoo High School in 1932. Received teaching degree from Lutheran College in 1934. Former bookkeeper, Gold's Dept. Store, Lincoln. Retired from Russell Stover Candies. Member, Faith Lutheran Church, Lincoln.

Survivors: son, Lawren, Lincoln; son, daughter-in-law, Merlin and Linda, Fremont; sister, Wilma Decker, Lincoln; five grandchildren, Timothy and Jodi Brodd, Mark and Lina Brodd, Matthew and Kendra Brodd, Cari Brodd, Lindsey Brodd; six great-grandchildren. DORTHEA BRODD

Dorothea A. Brodd, 87, of Wahoo, died Saturday, Jan. 10 at the Saunders County Community Hospital in Wahoo. She was born July 20, 1910 on a farm southeast of Ceresco to Herman A. and Ida Marie (Boquist) Knudsen.
She grew up on the farm and attended Bright Star Grade School and graduated from Ceresco High School in 1928. After graduation she worked in various private homes in Lincoln until 1935.
On Sept. 8, 1935, she married Evald C. Brodd in Waverly. In 1937 they moved to Wahoo where she resided until her death.
A homemaker, she was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout Den Mother, a member of the Wahoo Womens Club, Wahoo Garden Club, Wahoo Mothers Club, the Wahoo Senior Citizens Center, and life member of the Saunders County Historical Society
She was a 60 year member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Wahoo, where she was a member of the Ladies Choir, Mission Society, ELCA Women. She held several offices in these organizations.
She was preceded in death by her brother Alvin Knudsen; sister, Eveline Johnson, and grandson, William Brodd.
Survivors include her husband, Evald of Wahoo; sons and daughter-in-law, Robert and Carla Ann Brodd of Fremont and Roger Brodd of Omaha, daughter and son-in-law, Arlene and Gerald Johnson of Plymouth; grandchildren Brian and Pam Brodd of Frem, Daryl and Ann Brodd of Ames, Bryce and Dane Johnson, and Valerie and James Konecky of Lincoln; David Brodd and fiance Suzy of Omaha, and Charles and Jamie Brodd of Lincoln; great-grandchildren, Kristen and Curtis Brodd, Emilie Johnson, Lila Konecky, and Markee Brodd; and sister-in-law, Ethel Brodd of Wahoo.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 13 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Wahoo. Rev. Kent Morse officiated.
Interment was held at Sunrise Cemetery in Wahoo.
Casket bearers were Brian Brodd, Daryl Brodd, David Brodd, Joel Brodd, Charles Brodd, Bryce Johnson and Valerie Konecky.

GARY D. GUSTAFSON

Gary D. Gustafson, 74, of Lincoln, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2011, after a courageous year long struggle with cancer. He was born September 5, 1936 to F. George and Effie (Olsen) Gustafson. Gary was a retired attorney and former director of the Nebraska Power Review Board.

He graduated from Lincoln Northeast High School in 1954 where he met Janice (Rolofson) Gustafson. They were married on December 29, 1957. He received his BA from Nebraska Wesleyan and a J.D. from the University of Nebraska in 1963. He maintaineined a private practice and was legal counsel for the State Department of Public Welfare before assuming his position as Executive Director and General Counsel of the Nebraska Power Review Board, retiring in 1998 after 30 years of service. He was a 50 year member of the Nebraska Bar Association, earning Emeritus status. He was a life-long classic car enthusiast and antique collector. Gary was also a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church.

Gary is survived by his wife of 53 years, Janice; son, Erik, son and daughter-in-law, Marc and Peggy Gustafson; daughter and son-in-law, Kristin (Gustafson) Decker and Samuel Decker; granddaughters, Atley and Gracelyn Gustafson and Annika Larsen, all of Lincoln; one niece and two nephews. He was preceded in death by parents; sister, R. Arlene Stump; granddaughter, Heather Gustafson; and nephew, Rick Stump.

Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2011, at Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 "O" Street with Rev. Kara James officiating. There will be a private internment of ashes. Loyd "Eric" Erickson, 92, of Wahoo, died Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at Saunders Medical Center in Wahoo. He was born May 5, 1918 in a small farm northwest of Ceresco to Augustinus and Hermanda (Bengtson) Erickson. On September 23, 1944, Eric enlisted in the United States Navy and served for two years during WWII. He then returned to the Ceresco area to farm. On January 24, 1976, he married Peggy Davis at the First Congregational Church in Wahoo.

Alvena "Millie" Johnson, 89, Wahoo, widow of Norris J., died Friday, December 4, 2009 in Wahoo. She was born 4/15/1920 in Wahoo, to Alvin R. and Alvera A. (Brostrom) Walin. Millie worked at Mead Bank, Ceresco Bank, and at Federated Finance in LiLincoln after graduating from Luther Academy in Wahoo and attending Bethany College in Lindsborg, KS for one semester. On 2/27/1946, she married Norris J. Johnson at Swedeburg, Neb.. Millie was bookkeeper at Wahoo Clinic for 15 years, assisted in the Luther College Alumni Office and was organist at both Grace Lutheran and Immanuel Lutheran Churches for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; step-father, Arthur E. Larson; bothers, Archie and Glenn Larson. She is survived by sons, Harvey D. (Trish) Johnson, Seward, Kerry L. RUTH IONE WALIN

Ruth Ione Walin, 15, died in Lincoln, Aug. 7, 1933. Her early childhood was spent on a farm near Lincoln, and she resided in the city since 1929. She graduated from Capitol and Irving junior high school, being always an honor student. She was entrusted by her classmates with high offices and many positions of responsibility. Active in dramatics and all other school activities, she endeared herself to both the faculty and student body of Irving junior high, where she graduated in June 11933. Ruth was confirmed at First Lutheran church in Lincoln,1932. She was an officer of the Camp Fire girls organization of that church. Funeral services were held at First Lutheran church on August 10, and attended by many sorrowful associates, classmates and teachers. Pallbearers were members of her confirmation class. She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Walin, and a younger brother, Robert, all of Lincoln.

WEDDINGS AND ANNOUCEMENTS

A pretty home wedding took place Tuesday evening in Ceresco at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Olaf Pearson when their daughter Miss Euphemia Pearson became the bride of Harry H. Harding of Kansas City, Mo. Garden flowers and ferns were used in theecorations, and more than forty guests were present for the ceremony which was performed by the Rev. Mr. Guleen. Miss Olive Pearson, sister of the bride, played the Lohengrin wedding march and Miss Agnes Backstrum sang "O Promise Me" and "Love''s Coronation." Little Lois Wadlow who was flower girl, wore a dainty dress of lavendar organdy and carried a white basket of pink roses, tied with lavender tulle. The bride wore a gown of sand colored with hat and wrap to match, and a corsage of pink roses. A three course dinner follwed the marriage. Rev. Mr. Guleen presided as toastmaster, and the program included a toast by Dr. S. G. Zemer of Lincoln, two readings by Miss Roaslie Pearson, and a vocal solo by Miss Mabel Bern. Miss Myrtle Olson had charge of the gift room. Following the dinner the bride and groom left for Kansas City, Mo., where they will make their home. Mrs. Harding is a graduate nurse from the Lincoln Sanitarium, and is a member of the nurses alumni association. Out of town guests who attended the wedding were Dr. and Mrs. S. G. Zemer, and Misses Elsie Hoppe, Madge Morrison and Myrtle Olson from Lincoln, and Miss Mabel Bern from Wahoo.

OBITUARY

EUPHEMIA JULIANA HARDING

Euphemia Juliana Harding (nee Pearson) was born in Swedeburg, Neb., on Jan. 9, 1898. She was reared in that community, having recieved her early Christian training in the Sunday school and confirmation shcool in this church. She attended scl in district No. 100, after which she continued in the Ceresco high school and Luther Academy. in 1916 she entered Lincoln sanitarium to take up nurses' training. She was graduated in 1919, after which she worked in the office of Dr. S. G. Zemeer in Lincoln. On July 3, 1923, she was married to Harry H. Harding. Her last place of residence was Columbus, O. Mrs. Harding had been in poor health since 1932. For the past few years her condition had improved and recent letters indicated that she was quite well, being able to care for her home. On Dec. 3 she was suddenly stricken with a heart attack and removed to the hospital where she died two days later. She was 39 years of age at the time of her death.
Mrs. Harding is survived by her husband, Harry H. Harding; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Olof Pearson of Wahoo; four sisters, Mrs. Oscar Strand of Monmouth, Ill.; Mrs. C. Bertram Swanson of Elgin, Ill.; Mrs. Victor Soder of Ceresco, Miss Roselinearson of Lincoln, and a brother, Hilding Pearson of Ord, Neb.
Funeral services were held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Victor Soder farm near Ceresco and also at the Swedeburg Lutheran church at 2:30. Burial is in the Lutheran cemetery. Wadlow's in charge of arrangements.

The bride chose a floorlength gown of white satin for her wedding. The bodice featured a bateau neckline os scalloped lace.
Mrs. James Gibb of Lexington, Ky., was matron of honor and Miss Marlene Barrett of Omaha was maid of honor. Miss Kathy Gibb of Lexington, Ky., was junior bridesmaid. Bridesmaids were the Misses Tomilee Hughes of Norfolk, Sharon Dietrich of Wir, Nancie Booth of Walton, Nancy Watton, Ann Bloomquist and Arlene Cook.
Serving as best man was Bruce Pearson of Ord. In the corps of ushers were Jim Barrett, Don Richards and Bob Ruester, all of Omaha, Dean Sich of Ord, Charles Garner of Cozad, Joel Lundak and Gordon Strong.
The coule planned a wedding trip to Florida and New York City. After Sept. 1 they will live at Shelby.
