McKee, age 89, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Sunday, February 25, 2007 at the Good Samaritan Care Center. Mildred Ingelborg McKee was born August 11, 1917 in Howard County, Nebraska the daughter of Marius and Ingelborg Hansen Larsen. S She attended school in District 65 and District 7 near St. Paul, Nebraska. Mildred was united in marriage to Joseph John McKee on January 31, 1942 in Cushing, Nebraska. After WWII, they began farming north of Red Oak near Wales and then moved to the Stanton area. In 1960 they moved to the "homeplace" on highway 34 near Emerson. In 1992 Mildred moved to Red Oak. Mildred attended Grace Baptist Church in Red Oak. In her earlier years she was a Hospice Volunteer and a Sunday School Teacher. She also had been active in various ladies groups, school related organizations, and Bible Study Groups. She loved her family, enjoyed working with her husband, and she cared deeply for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: Joseph J. McKee on May 5, 1979; parents: Marius and Ingelborg Larsen; daughter: Lana Kay Brown on October 23, 2005; and son-in-law: Richard Brown on April 26, 1977 and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law. Survivors include her daughter: Dana Wellhausen and husband Keith of Clarinda, Iowa; sons: Joe McKee and wife Suzy of Okoboji, Iowa; and Kenneth McKee and wife Pat of Omaha, Nebraska; nine grandchildren: Chad Wellhausen and wife Allison of Cllarinda, Iowa; Brett Wellhausen and wife Melissa of Clarinda, Iowa; Mark Brown and wife Jennifer of Noblesville, Indiana; R.W. Brown and wife Danielle of Shorewood, Illinois; Adam Brown and wife Jamie of Burlington, Wisconsin; Chad McKee and wife Diane of Sioux Falls South Dakota; Monte McKee and wife Grace of Colorado Springs, Colorado; J.J. McKee and wife Becky of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; and Jennifer Bradley and husband Darrin of Bennington, Nebraska; 12 great grandchildren; two brothers: Andy Larsen of California; and Virgil Larsen of Hays, Kansas; brother-in-law: Gail Parker of Red Oak, Iowa; sisters-in-law: Grace McKee of Red Oak, Iowa; Lola Adkins of Des Moines, Iowa; and Audrey Vance and husband Claire of Oakland, Iowa; and many cousins and other relatives and friends. Mildred is now in the loving arms of her Savior and is greatly missed by all who knew her. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Thursday, March 1, 2007 at the Grace Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Walters officiating. Burial will be in the Emerson Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Grace Baptist Church. | 653 | FIND A GRAVE WAHOO - Sylvia A. Mattson, 82, of Wahoo died Tuesday, Aug. 27 at A.J. Merrick Manor in Fremont. Mattson was born Oct. 6, 1919, to Frank A. and Anna Marie (Chmelka) Jelinek in Weston. She graduated from Weston High School in 1937 and Midland College in Fremont in 1967. On June 21, 1947, she was united in marriage to Lester E. Mattson in Ceresco. The couple lived in the rural Ceresco area before moving to Wahoo in 1982. She was an elementary school teacher for 38 years. She taught in rural Saunders County country schools and West Ward Elementary in Wahoo before retiring in 1986. She was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Ceresco and attended Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Wahoo; president of the Wahoo Area Retired Teachers Association; treasurer of the Saunders County Genealogical Seekers; American Legion Auxiliary Post 82 of Wahoo; Serenading Seniors Novelty Band; and Wahoo Senior Center. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Ann M. Jelinek and Leona Parker. She is survived by daughters and son-in-law, June and Roger Vogel of Fremont and Janice K. Harroun of Lincoln; grandchildren, Curt Maly of Freeport, Ill., Steve Maly of Lincoln and Mark Maly of Fremont; step grandsons, Matt Vogel of Fremont and Mitch Vogel of Salina, Kan.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Francis Jelinek of Wahoo, Max and Sandy Jelinek of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Donald and Eleanor Jelinek of Wahoo; sisters and brother-in-law, Adeline Johnson of Wahoo, Shirley and William Ingram of Wesleco, Texas and Dorothy Slemin of Wahoo; nieces and nephews. Services were held Saturday, Aug. 31, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Wahoo with Rev. Kent Morse officiating. Honorary casket bearers were Curt, Steve and Mark Maly, Matt and Mitch Vogel. Casket bearers were Lloyd Johnson Jr., Dick Parker, Jack Jelinek, Randy Ingram, Rodney Jelinek and Lyle Stearnes. Burial was at Sunrise North Cemetery in Wahoo. Memorials may be made to the Sylvia Mattson Elementary Education Teaching Scholarship in care of First National Bank, P.O. Box 68, Wahoo, NE 68066. Obituary of Carl Johan Nelson: Enroute Home At Swedeburg From China For A Vacation Of Several Months The people of this vicinity were very grieved to hear of the death of Rev. Carl Nelson, a Swedeburg boy, who has been serving as a missionary in China for the past ten years, his demise occurring at San Francisco Thursday, August 23rd. He and his family were enroute to Saunders county for a much needed vacation after an absence of nearly 10 years, and his death comes as an almost unbearable shock to his aged father, John Nelson of Swedeburg as well as to the mother of his wife, Mrs. Olof Anderson of Malmo, both of whom had been looking eagerly forward to the rrival of their children from the Orient. The deceased was born and raised in Saunders county and has a host of friends around Swedeburg, Ceresco and Wahoo. He was a brother to David and Oscar Nelson, of Swedeburg and to Mrs. Elmer Gustafson of Wahoo.
