| 2586 | Doings of the Death Angel Mrs. S. Timmons Mrs. S. Timmons of Malvern died rather unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home of her son, Charles Timmons, four miles south of Pacific Junction. She had gone there two weeks before and in a few days was taken sick. Death resulted from blood poisoning of the kidneys. Mrs. Timmons was 76 years old and leaves a husband and two children - Miss Effa Timmons living at the home. Short funeral services were held at the home of the son at 1 o'clock Wednesday, after which the remains were taken to Malvern and at 11 o'clock Thursday regular funeral services were held at the Methodist church conducted by her pastor, Rev. Bollinger. Mrs. Lydia Timmons The sad news reached here Tuesday evening of the death of Mrs. S. Timmons of this place at the home of her son, Chas. F., south of Pacific Junction. Mrs. Timmons went over there Tuesday, Jan. 23, to stay a few days with her son's children while he was out in Nebraska. She was apparently in the best of health at the time and had been feeling pretty well all winter; but the Thursday following or two days after going there, she was suddenly very sick and although everything possible was done for her and the best medical help secured, she passed away Tuesday afternoon of this week. The remains were brought to Malvern yesterday to her late home and the funeral occurred from the Methodist church at eleven o'clock today conducted by Rev. W. W. Bollinger, of the Methodist church and was largely attended by her old friends and neighbors. Lydia A. Bennett was born in Clark County, Ohio, Feb. 1, 1839. She was married to Salathiel Timmons Nov. 26, 1859. To them were born two children, Chas. F. of Pacific Junction and Effie N. who is at home with her father. They came to Iowa in 1881 an located in Boone county where they resided until 1891 when they came to this county locating on a farm two miles north of town where they lived until last year when they moved to Malvern. She united with the M.E. church in 1882 and has ever since lived a consistent christian life loved by her family, neighbors and friends. Her loss is sincerely mourned by all who know her and our warmest sympathy goes out to the lonely husband and sorrowing children. Mrs. Lydia Timmons - Obituary Lydia A. | 2589 | Donald Edward Trued, 86, passed away June 29, 2011. He was born April 20, 1925, the son of Herman and Hulda (Nelson) Trued in Tribune, KS. Don was a retired Lutheran Clergyman. He married Ruth Duell on June 1, 1953, in Goodland, KS. He was preceded in death by brothers, Merlyn, Lawrence, Wallace, and Stanley Trued. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, of the home, son, Steven and wife Michelle Moore-Trued of Olathe, daughter Kathy and husband Al of Falun, brother, Pastor Clif Trued of Bayfield, Wisconsin, grandchildren Steel, Cole, Grant and Weston of Olathe, and Kaleigh Salzman of Falun. He was a graduate of Greeley Co. Community High School in 1943. He graduated Bethany College in 1952, he received a Honorary Doctor of Divinity in 1975, and in 2006 the Alumni Award of Merit. Don served in the United States Army Air Corps as a radio Operator/Mechanic from 1944-1946. In 1948 he graduated from Lutheran Bible Institute, and in 1955 Augustana Theological Seminary, Rock Island, Illinois.He continued with graduate courses at Denver University and Iliff school of Theology in Denver Colorado in 1960.Don helped to intiate Stephen Ministries at Bethany Lutheran Church, and become one of the first Stephen Leaders trained, in 1996. Don served as a missionary in Tanzania, Africa in 1955. After leaving Africa in 1962, he was called to the New York Lutheran Church of America Headquarters and had residence in Glen Rock, New Jersey. In 1967 he accepted the position of Assistant Executive Secretary for World Missions with the Lutheran Council in the US of America. He continued his employment with the Lutheran Church in America from 1969-1982 as Assistant to the Secretary and then Director of Administrative Services. Don moved to Olathe, KS, in 1982 and founded a new position in Planned Giving for the Lutheran Church in America Foundation. He continued with Planned Giving when he accepted a position at Bethany College in 1985, and returned to his familiar surroundings of Lindsborg. He retired in 1990 from Bethany College. Retirement was short lived when he was asked to become Interim Pastor at St. John's Lutheran Church, Salina KS, in 1991 to 1993. Don was a member of Lindsborg Kiwanis. He enjoyed participating in Lindsborg events; especially music, grandchildren's activities, and church programs. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather (Papa). His grace, kindness and smile will be missed by many. Visitation will be Friday from 4-7pm with family present from 6-7pm at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am Saturday at Bethany Lutheran Church. Private family burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery.
